Part One – New Features

MagiCraft adds various new features to Minecraft that modify the vanilla gameplay experience. These features, in the initial release, are as follows:

  • Fall Damage has been altered. The amount of damage is the same, but falling too high will “break your legs” and give you slowness. Falling from an even greater height will also slow your mining speed!
  • Sweeping attacks now exist in the game. These can only be done with a new weapon type, explained in part two.
  • Cooldown now exists for most weapons. Bigger weapons will also slow you down when attacking with them.
  • New quality-of-life recipes have been added. You can now smelt rotten flesh into leather, reduce wool into 4 string, and combine 4 rabbit’s hide into leather!
  • Health bars now show up when aiming an entity with health! These also show up when hitting an entity with an arrow.
  • Getting shot in the head when you’re not wearing a helmet or blocking will now result in being blinded.

Part Two – New Weapons

New weapons added with MagiCraft include sabers, battleaxes, and more. These weapons each have their pros and cons:

  • The Saber has the second fastest cooldown – but it is weaker than a normal sword. It makes up for this weakness by allowing for sweep attacks.
  • The Battleaxe is very heavy but very powerful – however because of this it can also slow you down. But, because it’s an axe, it’s also a great choice for cutting trees down.
  • The Greatsword is like a normal sword – but more powerful. Like the battleaxe, it also slows you down with attacks.
  • The Dagger is very small and very fast – it has no weapon cooldown!
  • Copper now has a full set of armor, weaponry, and tools.

These weapons are available as every tier of tool.

Part Three – New Materials

Various new materials in MagiCraft allow for new weapons and the crafting of Tomes – special books that allow you to learn spells! These new materials are as follows:

  • Life Essence is an inherently magical material only acquired by those who are no longer alive – but still have a sliver of life in them. It’s a rare drop, but it’s the basis of magic.
  • Mythril is a new material used for crafting – a full set of armor and a full set of tools and weapons are craftable!
  • Darkbloom is another new material crafted by mixing a glow squid’s ink with life essence. Darkbloom is the basis of harmful magic.
  • Darkbloom Crystals are used to craft tomes of harmful spells

Part Four – Getting Started with Spells

Spells require a tome to learn them – but once you’ve learned a spell, it’s yours to keep. They have no durability, and are more powerful than staves & scrolls.

These are the eleven tomes you can craft to learn spells:

  • Tome of Healing
  • Tome of Resistance
  • Tome of Fire Protection

ADVERSITE

  • Tome of Night Vision
  • Tome of Induce Wither
  • Tome of Fang Evocation
  • Tome of Reanimate Dead

ADVERSITE

  • Tome of Summon Familiar
  • Tome of Summon Thunder
  • Tome of Jump Boost
  • Tome of Induce Weakness

ADVERSITE

There will be more tomes added with almost every update. They are all available in the crafting book.

In order to acquire a spell, just charge the tome for two seconds, then release. You’ll hear an enchanting sound, then you’ll learn a new spell. To cast the spell, it’s the same process – charge for two seconds, release.

Spells are not lost upon death.

Currently, there are six scrolls:

  • Scroll of Healing
  • Scroll of Resistance
  • Scroll of Night Vision
  • Scroll of Summon Thunder
  • Scroll of Fang Evocation
  • Sroll of Invisibility

Scrolls cannot be crafted. They drop from zombies.

Part Five – Harnessing the Power of Magic

Once you’ve finally acquired a spell, it’s yours to keep – they have no durability and can be used infinitely. However, some spells have a cooldown. The cooldowns are split into categories – so if you cast Resistance, you won’t be able to cast Fire Protection. However, you’ll still be able to cast Healing, Induce Wither, etc.

As of version 1.3.0, spells no longer have potency based on level. However, now some spells have a manual mode similar to staves – sneak, aim at a mob, and cast your spell on a specific mob instead.

All spells require a charge time of two seconds. You’ll know whether or not the spell was successful based on the sound you hear – a failed spell will sound like a beacon deactivating.

Part Six – Using Magic without Spells

Not wanting to expend energy on spells? There is a solution – scrolls and staves! Scrolls have very limited uses, but often drop from zombies. However, once you have a scroll, they can also be bound to a staff – allowing for many more uses. To craft an unbound staff, use this recipe:

To bind a scroll to a staff, simply put the two in a crafting table together:

Functionally, staves are nearly identical – however, the fang summoning & thunder summoning staves offer a manual mode – something their scroll counterparts don’t offer. Simply crouch, aim the staff at the entity you want to use it on, and release. These two staves also offer a faster usage time – just one second!

Part Seven – Reducing the Negative Effects of Spells

Sick of being out of energy all the time? We have a solution for you! Crafting a Darkbloom Catalyst will allow you to cast spells by using lesss energy – this catalyst takes the toll instead. Due to this, the catalyst has limited uses, but can be crafted by surrounding a Darkbloom Crystal with diamonds & cobblestone, like so:

Part Eight – Waypoint Totems

Waypoint Totems are a new item that will allow you to save a waypoint and teleport back to it. To craft a Waypoint Totem, you first need a Totem – crafted with 5 gold ingots in a T shape and two emeralds in the top corners of the crafting table. Once you have a totem, simply put it in a crafting table with a compass, and you have yourself a Waypoint Totem.

Then, once you have a waypoint totem, just crouch & use it, and a popup will display requesting a name for the totem. When you need to go back to your waypoint, just use the respective Waypoint Totem, and you’ll be back at that location.

Part Nine – Item Properties

Item properties are a new feature that allow you to modify the way your weapon works, such as by shrapening its blade, weiging down the handle, etc. Currently, there are four weapon properties:

  • Sharpened deal 2 points of bleeding damage over 3 seconds
  • Weighted slows the opponent down for 2 seconds
  • Vampiric converts 20% of damage dealt to health
  • Inflicted has a 15% chance of poisoning your target
